Fitchburg State University Teams Up With Fitchburg Art Museum On New Marketing Initiative

FITCHBURG – A slate of new marketing and branding ideas for the Fitchburg Art Museum, developed by students from Fitchburg State University, will be the centerpiece of an exhibit opening later this month.
“RE-IMAGE-ING: A Collage of Fresh Brand Concepts,” opens with a reception at the art museum, 25 Merriam Parkway, on Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 11 a.m. to noon. The reception is free and open to the public. The exhibition runs through Jan. 15, 2012.
“RE-IMAGE-ING” is a multimedia exhibition of prospective marketing ideas that introduces progressive approaches for evolving the reality and representation of the museum in an eclectic body of at once fresh and functional communications media.
Conceived and created by students in the Communications Media Department at Fitchburg State University under the guidance of Professor Robert Carr, this collage of novel ideas embodied in applied media is designed to market exciting new events, prospective programs, energizing environments, and an emerging vision of the FAM as an inviting participatory space for the community and region at large.
Student projects include a wide-range of ideas including: logo designs; public service announcements; videos; publicity packages for special events and festivals; educational program concepts; and visionary architecture.
This exhibition was developed as part of Fitchburg Art Museum’s new Community Engagement Program led by Jerry Beck. The program’s goals include:
  • Cultivating strategic partnerships between civic, educational, cultural, social, and business leaders.
  • Developing site-specific urban design projects, public artworks, community workshops and special events.
  • Create opportunities for artists and youth by sharing their talents with the broader community.
  • Promote innovative ideas through publicity, outreach, marketing, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Assisting the City to become a more unified, resourceful, and creative-minded.
  • Encouraging cultural diversity and awareness by incorporating the underlying theme of the appreciation of different cultures in projects and through the inclusion of individuals from all backgrounds and abilities.
  • Highlighting the role of the arts in economic development.
