Position Overview

The Fitchburg Art Museum (FAM) seeks a Bilingual Visitor Services Associate. The BVSA is the primary public face of the museum and welcomes Museum visitors in English and in Spanish.

Primary Responsibilities

Admissions

• Greet all Museum guests in English or Spanish 
• Process daily admissions in Altru database
• Process gift shop sales, membership sales, event registrations, class registrations, group tour payments 
• Track daily visitation numbers and complete daily/monthly admissions reports
• Provide general information in person and via the phone. 
• Stay familiar with the Museum and Museum programs.
• Maintain lobby appearance (including gift shop, café) 
• Monitor general information email: respond, screen, and pass on email to appropriate departments.

Gift Shop 

• Process gift shop sales
• Inventory and enter gift shop items into Altru
• Gift shop reports

Other 

• Assist with translation of in-house materials 

Event Support (extra hours, as available)

• Check in event attendees at Museum special events
• May provide support at museum rentals and community events
• May assist with set up and break down of events

Qualifications:

• Exceptional customer service skills and enjoys interacting with members of the public 
• Knowledge of both English and Spanish, written and verbal
• Experience with Excel, Word, data entry, and POS systems 
• Detail-oriented with regard to cash management, processing sales, and filling out paperwork; can manage several tasks simultaneously; 
• Displays a positive attitude with visitors and staff; enjoys working as part of a team
• Able to lift 25 pounds
• Previous employment or experience in museums or customer service a plus.

20-25 hours per week. $18.25/hour  

Hours: 11:30am–4:30pm, Wednesday–Friday; 10:30am-5:30pm, Saturday, plus optional occasional mornings and evenings for tours, meetings, and special events.
