One of the most beloved traditions at the Fitchburg Art Museum is our annual Regional Exhibition of Art & Craft. Each summer for the last 84 years, hundreds of our region’s artists and craftspeople have submitted work for display in our galleries. At the end of June, we celebrate these artists at the exhibition’s opening along with hundreds of art lovers from our community. This tradition not only highlights the excellent work made in our region, but also brings to life our vision for community building through engagement with art, creativity, and one another.
Unfortunately, given current recommendations for social distancing and because of our concern for the health and safety of our staff, artist community, and public, we have decided to postpone the 85th Regional Exhibition of Art & Craft, originally scheduled to open on Friday, June 26, 2020. It is with heavy hearts that we make this decision, considering its impact on our region’s creatives and our audiences. We hope that our artist community will continue to make art and will join us in 2021 when we can safely and responsibly celebrate the 85th iteration of this exhibition. FAM’s 85th Regional Exhibition of Art & Craft will now be held in the summer of 2021, accompanied by the solo exhibition of our 2019 First Prize Winner, Nathan Bentley.
While we wait for the 2021 Regional Exhibition, FAM is committed to the continued support of our artistic community. Please keep in touch and sign up for our Regional Exhibition mailing list here. We will send updates on the 2021 exhibition and share resources and opportunities for local artists in this difficult moment and beyond.
We can’t wait to celebrate with you in 2021—we have a feeling it will be a big one.
