LAND HO! REMIX
February , 2016 — September 8th, 2016
MICHELE LAURIAT, UNTITLED (FROM THE PINK IOWA SERIES), 2015, 2015.99
In Land Ho! Remix, the popular cultural phenomenon of sampling takes over FAM’s Connector! DJs pull from different musical eras to update the songs we know and love…but in Land Ho! Remix, curators mash up paintings instead of popular hits. Pulling from our newly expanded landscape collection, Land Ho! Remix offers the same exciting comparative viewing experience as FAM’s original Land Ho! exhibition (on view Sept. 2015-Jan. 2016). With the acquisition of landscapes by Sally Curcio, Michele Lauriat, Sandy Litchfield, Shona Macdonald, FAM continues the cross-generational dialogue surrounding visions of nature—real and imagined. Luminous color, dynamic mark-making, and a multiplicity of perspectives are at the heart of Land Ho! Remix and its exploration of this enduring genre. In this intimate viewing context Land Ho! Remix offers opportunities to take in the subtle shifts in palette, perspective and brushwork that over the last 150 years have transformed the way American artists represent, remember, and imagine land and place.
