Description:
The Fitchburg Art Museum (FAM) seeks a responsible individual to join our Security/Visitor Services (SVS) team. SVS provides security for museum visitors, museum buildings and grounds, as well as works of art on display in public galleries. SVS is the primary public face of the museum and helps to make Museum visitors and guests feel welcome while ensuring the safety of the art, visitors, and staff.

SVS must be able to stand and circulate through the galleries for up to a 6-hour shift as well as be able to lift 25 pounds. The ideal SVS candidate will have a flexible schedule in which they are consistently available for a minimum of three days a week, and available for weekends and occasional evening hours. SVS are required as needed to help with set up/ take down for events as well as undertake light cleaning. The successful SVS team member will welcome visitors interacting clearly and pleasantly with museum guests, including answering visitor questions. The right candidates will enjoy working in a museum environment; embrace and promote diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion initiatives; and have computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bi-lingual English-Spanish is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience in a museum or with security, events, or customer service is a plus.
• Training will be provided, including safety and security measures, and twice annual training on exhibition content.
• Opportunity available to learn front desk operations for additional hours/experience.

Rate:
$17.25/hour. This is a part-time position, and hours vary by week. The normal work week for this position is Wednesday through Sunday. Plus various mornings and evenings for tours, meetings, and events. Evening hours will be paid overtime.

Shift begins 15 minutes before opening hours and extends 15 minutes after closing.
