ACCESSIBILITY AT FAM
The Fitchburg Art Museum is committed to providing an excellent visitor experience for everyone and understands that accessibility needs vary individually. Our work to improve access at FAM is ongoing and imperfect. We welcome suggestions and feedback: Please contact us at info@fitchburgartmuseum.org or 978-345-4207.
FAM is handicap accessible:
- The main entrance is about 20 feet from the drop-off point in the main parking lot on 185 Elm St. You can park a bus/van either in that main parking area, or if necessary in the lot at 26 Merriam Pkwy (directly around the corner from the Elm St lot).
- The exterior doors have automatic-entry buttons.
- Restrooms are in the first-floor hallway. They have handicap stalls, but lack automatic-entry doors and lack automatic flush/faucet.
- We have two buildings, Simonds and Merriam Parkway, connected by a bridge in the middle.
-
-
- The Simonds Building has an elevator for second floor access, which connects to the bridge which leads to the Merriam Parkway Building.
- The second floor of the Merriam Parkway Building is presently closed for renovations.
-
-
- There are benches in the galleries and couches in our lobby for seating. We are working to add additional and improved seating options.
- We have two wheelchairs available for visitor use on a first-come first-served basis.
- ADA-defined Service Animals are welcome to accompany visitors.
Do you or your group have have any specific access needs not addressed here? Please let us know and we will work to accommodate you to the best of our ability.
