Overview:

Fitchburg Art Museum’s Marketing Department seeks an Intern to come aboard for a mid-November start date. The Intern will support the Department by participating in all aspects of production, focusing on learning the methodology and software tools while developing foundational skills in graphic design, photography, and copywriting. 

The internship is 8-weeks, unpaid, 25 – 40 hours/week, working hybrid (mix of onsite and remote) at our office in Fitchburg.

This position is entirely volunteer-based. If affiliated with a college program the student might be eligible to earn credit.

Responsibilities:

• Adds to a positive culture in the Marketing Department
• Explores creative solutions to a range of briefs under the direction of the Marketing Associate; works across disciplines and techniques as required by projects; demonstrates ability to develop new skills on the job
• Delivers work on time and with close attention to detail; production of social media posts and signage; UX and maintenance of Museum website
• Learns and carries out processes, becoming familiar with methodologies, tools, and practices; takes initiative for project needs
• Collaborates and engages in projects within the Marketing Department and as a member of multi-disciplinary Departments
• Engages in multi-department client meetings

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a BA or MFA, or a recent graduate in visual design, video production, photography, or a related field

• Familiarity with design software like, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator, Figma, and productivity software like Google Workspace is required

• Proficient written and spoken English language skills; able to participate in design critiques, including fluency with technical terminology related to design and typography
