Thursday, February 6, 2025; 12-7pm — Free First Thursday

Visit at night and explore the Museum in a different light. Every first Thursday of the month, admission to the Museum is FREE for everyone  with extended hours from 12 to 7pm. There is no need to register ahead of time. Shop at the indoor Fitchburg Farmers’ Market at the Fitchburg Art Museum, brought to you by Growing Places!  At our markets, you can use your SNAP benefits, Healthy Incentive Program (HIP), WIC, Senior Farmers Market Coupons, debit, credit, or cash. All are welcome! 3:00-5:30pm on First Thursdays, through May 2025. Free First Thursdays is supported by an endowment given to the Fitchburg Art Museum in memory of Martha Malm.


Saturday, February 8, 2025; 2-4pm — FAM Spring Exhibits Opening Reception

Join us for a reception to celebrate the opening of two new exhibits – Tara Sellios: Ask Now the Beasts and Stephen DiRado, Better Together: Four Decades of Photographs.

Mingle in the galleries and enjoy refreshments served by Finicky Fork Catering.

Your ticket purchase includes General Admission to the museum.
Registration is encouraged to help us plan ahead, but not required to attend the event.

Enjoy gallery activities and art making with the whole family with our FAMily Program. In this program we prioritize the joy of looking at and talking about works of art, combined with using tangible materials for making art that creates connections to the exhibitions. This program is perfect for young artists or art enthusiasts between the ages of 7 to 15 and their favorite adult. Learn more and sign up to secure your spot, space is limited.

Thursday, February 20, 2025; 1-3:30pm — Artist Workshop: Tara Sellios

Ever wanted to be mentored by a FAM Artist? In this workshop you will explore drawing techniques with guidance from FAM exhibiting artist Tara Sellios. Get up close and personal with the actual bones, bugs and dried flowers she uses in her photographs and create your own compositions. This free program is for young artists ages 8 to 14 and their favorite adult. Sign up below to save your spot. Space is limited.

Join FAM exhibiting artist Stephen DiRado as he discusses his documentation of the lives of New Englanders for four decades. Hear Stephen share insights about his process, the individuals featured in his work, and the stories behind Stephen DiRado: Better Together – Four Decades of Photographs. This talk will include an intro from FAM Director and exhibition curator, Nick Capasso.

Art in Bloom returns this Spring to the Fitchburg Art Museum. Visit the Fitchburg Art Museum and enjoy floral arrangements crafted by local florists, artists, and Laurelwood Garden Club members inspired by the works of art on view.

The Champagne Reception will be on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 6-9pm.

Saturday, June 7, 2025; 2pm — Artist Talk: Ari Montford: Freedom Arrows

Join cultural practitioner Ari Montford for an engaging conversation about their installation Freedom Arrows, currently on view at FAM. Montford will explore themes of freedom and creative expression from their perspective as a Black, Indigenous, and Two-Spirit artist, and will engage in a community conversation on cultural and societal representation in the visual arts.
